Suggestions for Cold and Flu Season

Remember these helpful tips to keep you and your family safe through the winter season!

Keep warm, wear and scarf to prevents cold winds from penetrating your body. This helps to conserve energy so your body is able to protect against pathogens and virsus. In Chinese medicine we call this defending your Wei qi or protective qi.

Take your herbs and stay on a diet of warm , cooked foods utilizing  warming spices such as ginger, cinnamon, black pepper, cumin, curry, fennel and cayenne. If you are not on an herbal prescription, using what medicinal herbs are present in your kitchen is a game changer.

Start by making a tea with fresh ginger and a cinnamon stick. Boil them in water and add some honey at the end. Herbs to invest in for future use could be arrowroot powder to treat symptoms such as stiff neck, diarrhea, upset stomach.

If you are experiencing phlegm and chest congestion, try adding digestive enzymes to your daily protocol.

Always consult your physician and acupuncturist with any further questions.
